Pool of
Siloam

No water about Jerusalem has obtained
such a wide celebrity as
"Siloa's brook, that
flowed
"Fast by the oracle of God."
Yet it is only thrice mentioned in
the Bible. Isaiah speaks of "the waters of Shiloah that go softly;" Nehemiah
tells us that Shallum built "the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's
garden;" and then, most interesting of all, we have our Lord's command to the
blind man, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam. He went his way therefore, and
washed, and came seeing." Josephus describes its position so clearly as to leave
no doubt regarding its identity. (Source:
